Guten Tag,

Ich habe einer 'neu fur mich' Howard Landmachinen mit Sachs D500 motor. Ich kann nicht starten. Viel mals zundfix und keine action.

Mein deuche ist nich gut, hilfe mich auf english, bitte.

I have tried to start the engine many times and have had it running twice for only a very short time, 5 seconds or so before it stopped by itself.

I have pulled out the knob by the throttle. Put the throttle in many places from nil up to 1/4.

I have fuel and have turned the engine by hand with the threaded plug out from the cylinder head. I can see a small amount of fuel come out, I think.

It is difficult to turn the engine more than one turn because of the strong compression. I put the engine just over Top dead centre. Then I put the glowing zundfix in the engine and pull the engine over the next compression. And try a few times.

The only times it started I have put a second crank onto the Howard gearbox and usd this as a simple kick start. I can put my foot on this crank and becasue of the gearing get maybe 3 or 4 engine revolutions.

Hallo Andrew,

I think that you have air in your "fuel-ducting" because I had the same problem. So, have you tried to exhaust your ducting????

If you have done it well (no air will be in the flowing fuel),

1. place the throttle control to 3/4 and screw out the Zündfix-Holder and turn the engine like 15-20 times over the TOP-Dead centre (it should be very easy because you have no compression).

2. Then screw the Zündix-Holder without Zündifix in and turn the engine again 5 times over TOP dead centre (with compression) (only very slow, so that the engine could not start!!!!!).

3. Then put a Zündfix in the Zündix-Holder(you should put a normal, not a glowing or burning Zündifx in) an try to start the engine with a strong pull over the top-dead-centre (before pull out the start-knob).

Normally, this should work... if not, post again

If the engine starts well, restart it several times. Normally you needn't point 2. to start, it's only for this special "procedure", when it works, you needn't 3/4 of throttle-control, but this you have to test...

I bled the fuel system and it did have air in it. Now with loose pipe nut I get a small drip of fuel at the injector. Before I had only a trace of fuel.

I do not know why I thought I had to light the zundfix before screwing it in !

The engine started first time, made lots of smoke and sounds great.
